Game 26: Safeco Field M’s vs. Blue Jays

Well tonight I was back at Safeco Field.  Not much really to write but not only did the M’s get a win but they also shut out the other team which is something they have not done much this year.  Mike Morse got his first major league start after playing for the first time yesterday.  He has yet to get a hit however.  Pat Borders at age 42 was an impressive 2-2 with a walk to boot.  Meche started and got his fifth win of the year for the M’s.  Cachin got the loss for the Blue Jays.  “Every day” Eddie got the save giving him 15 for the year.  One thing I forgot to write about yesterday was how small the crowd was.  It was only a little over 25K.  Tonight was even smaller (perhaps one of the smallest in Safeco field history) at 24815.
The M’s record is now 22-30, third in the AL West and they are 8.5 games back of Texas/Aniheim, they are also 8.5 games back of those same two teams for the Wild Card.

Ichiro update.  Ichiro went 1-3 tonight with a sac bunt.  His average is down to .321 for the year.  As for his quest toward 1000 hits he is now at 993 in 686 games.  His hits per game is now 1.447522 so he is projected to get to 1000 in game 690.8359 which is still the middle of the next road trip in Florida.
