Monday night the Huskies were playing in the semi-final round of the BCA Classic against the Wisconsin- Green Bay Phoenix. Yesterday in my blog I predicted the Dawgs by 20 points but they actually won by 33 in a 87-54 victory. I did not see odds in the paper but I have to believe we covered.
Ryan Evanochko led the Phoenix with 13 pts. The Dawgs were in foul trouble early and so the starters did not play as well. Bobby Jones led the Huskies for a second night with 17 pts. Brandon Burmeister came off of the bench to score 12 pts in 17 minutes. Coach Romar felt the game was over with about five minutes left when he put in Zane Potter who actually scored a bucket!
No tournament records were broken by the Dawgs tonight and I may have been a bit overzealous in my predictions for others that might fall but there should be a few more that have some Husky stamp on them. Jones can get in the top five in scoring if he can get 21 pts in the final game. Jon Brockman needs 8 or more rebounds to make the top five. Justin Dentmon and Brandon Roy both need 5 assists to make the top three with 16 or more. Bobby Jones needs five steals to get in the top three, as does Roy and Burmeister.
The Huskies will play the Air Force Falcons in the final. The Falcons came from being down at the half by six to win by four over Miami; 57-53. While having a 6-10 player the Air Force tends to mostly air it up from the outside. I have confidence that the Dawgs can win but I am not sure by how many.
