On Saturday I picked up a HD-DVD player and HD movies look great on it. I went with the add-on for the XBOX 360 since I already had the console and it was a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than the standalone Toshiba drives. Since it was USB the chance are good that I will be able to use it with one of my PCs (in fact people have it up and running with slight hacked drivers). I am not sure if I will buy non HD DVDs moving forward although I do like the companies that are putting out the hybrid discs that have the HD and non HD versions of the movie on the disc. The drive came with Peter Jackson’s King Kong and I also picked up the movie 12 Monkeys which is a really cool film that makes you think.
